and Spiders Appeal COMPETITION FOR SCHOOLS

The 2009 Spider's Appeal Competition for Schools winners, St John's Church of England Primary School, Swindon, Dudley, received a conservation garden for their school. The garden was designed and built by Peter Newton and formally opened by world renowned British author, broadcaster, environmental campaigner and botanist, David Bellamy OBE. Also attending the opening were Brian Hayes from the National Gamekeepers Charitable Trust and Barry Atkinson and his dog Spider who helped fund the competition. David Bellamy presents the NGO CT Nature Award to Timothy Daly. This trophy will now stay at the school and will be awarded annually, by the teachers, to the student who shows the greatest initiative and produces the best work in any subject relating to nature.
