About Us

Who are we?

Keepers

The National Gamekeepers' Organisation Educational Trust was established in 1999 and is Registered Charity number 1076923. As the name suggests, its founding body was the National Gamekeepers' Organisation (NGO). But the NGO Educational Trust is an independent charity, with separate Trustees who are bound by the Charity Commission to conduct their work in a balanced and factual manner.

Our Priorities

Promoting public awareness of the need for sustainable wildlife management in our countryside, and stressing the importance of the conservation work carried out by gamekeepers.

Why is this work important?

Forty-nine out of fifty people say they have never met a gamekeeper. Public knowledge of gamekeeping is very low and entirely dependent on what is reported by the media. We want to present the true facts about the profession. We particularly want the young to know what gamekeepers do.

What do we do?

In simple terms the National Gamekeepers' Educational Trust provides resources for those people wishing to promote the awareness of the countryside to the public. These resources include:

  • An Education Officer who can advise on a wide range of educational matters and provide support when it is requested
  • A mobile exhibition which is growing in quality and diversity in order to meet a wide range of educational opportunities
  • Teams of keepers to man educational events
