Connect with the Countryside Day, Ardingly, West Sussex

On what was one of the hottest days of the year thousands of schoolchildren poured onto the South of England Showground at Ardingly to discover more about the countryside.

In spite of concerns about the weather they seem to cope with the heat very well indeed. We had many interested children and teachers who visited our display and had some really good discussions with them about the work we do and why it is so beneficial to the countryside.

There was plenty to see and keep them interested for all the day as you will see from a very small sample of pictures taken before the day started in earnest.

During the day a school group of childen & teachers from Parkside School came onto the NGO ET display to look at the predators and to decide on an appropiate name for their class next year when they are in year 6. After careful discussion and listening to the description of the character of the animal they chose the name 'Ermine Class'. As most people know a stoat is very clever, very brave, never gives up, is happy to play, he is relentless in the pursuit of his goals and also very beautiful.
All attributes which year 6 would be well advised to copy.

After leaving the showground and heading homeward we had the golden opportunity to park the van in the nearest car park, well three car parks actually. First was the M23 then came the M25 where we were glad to park twice in different spots and finally the M40, it seems that National Car Parks are expanding.
