Spring 2018 roadshow roundup

The start of the NGO Educational Trust Roadshow season began with a few hundred miles of travelling and three events in ten days, starting on Easter Saturday at ‘Springtime Live’ in Harrogate. This was a family event with 5,000 tickets sold and which always gives the Trust team opportunities to speak to hundreds of visitors of all ages taking a close interest in the display.

Following on the heels of Harrogate was a trip to Malvern for ‘Countrytastic’ a similar event with similar numbers of probably 4000+ attending.

Finally the roadshow rocked up in Lincoln for ‘Countryside Lincs’ which turned out to be a really excellent event for the Trust in spite of the home team, Lincoln, playing a final at Wembley on the very same day. Apparently 34 coaches of supporters had left Lincoln that morning so we wondered if anyone would turn up. We needn’t have worried at all, even with the bad weather there were so many visitors to our roadshow that we never had a minute to spare and all of them were fascinated to hear what we had to say.

In our view it has always been important to educate the public of the true value that responsible gamekeeping practices make to conservation in the countryside. Now it is even more important with the profession facing many challenges in the future. Over the three days the team spoke to hundreds of visitors and nearly all left the stand with a more positive view of the profession than they came with.
